Great news: A New Mexico judge has issued a temporary restraining order to stop the New Mexico Agriculture Department from selling a beloved group wild horses from Alto, NM for slaughter. Congrats to the Wild Horse Observers Association (WHOA), a member of the AWHPC Coalition, for this legal victory. Previously WHOA won a precedent-setting appellate court legal victory finding that the wild horses of Placitas NM were "wild horses" and not livestock, and that "livestock" does not include undomesticated, unowned animals.
